Yes, I used that hyphen in the title on purpose. Did you know you can use frozen strawberries to make jam? I had frozen some mushy berries on purpose for jam making, and I just pulled them out and made the jam with Sure-Jell pectin. It worked great, and the jam is delicious!
The only thing I did differently than the recipe said was to drain off a little of the liquid from the mashed berries before cooking it.
So if you’d like fresh jam in the middle of the winter, freeze some extra berries, or buy already-frozen ones at the store. Grab a package of pectin and some sugar and follow the directions.
